Dylan Long dominates Ararat Open with GMR Motorex KTM Racing Team

The winning streak continues for Dylan Long and GMR Motorex KTM, with the new recruit collecting two class wins at the Ararat Open on the weekend in the 12-u16 years 85cc-150F and 13-u16 125-150cc categories.

The event attracted some top performers seeking track time in preparation for round one of the Victorian Junior Motocross Championship to be held at the circuit based in western Victoria, in early May.

Long was undefeated all weekend on board his KTM 85 SX taking four convincing race wins which secured the overall for  85cc-150F class.  In the 13-u16 years 125-150cc class all didn’t go Long’s way with a third place being his only hiccup in taking a clean sweep for the event, yet he still took the outright win for the event.

“I was really focused on racing the track this weekend,” said Long.  “It was a good opportunity to feel the bike and learn more about it in race conditions which is what I am aiming for right now.     I convincingly won the 85cc-150F class, but I had my work cut out for me in the 125-150cc class.

“I was getting unreal starts on the KTM 125 SX, but in moto three they started watering the track mid-race, and I lost control on the up ramp of a step-up jump which caused me crash pretty hard.  It took me a bit of time to hop on my bike and get going again, and I was a fair way down the pack, so I had a bit of work to do.

“In the end it was an exciting race for me, as worked my way through the field in the last two laps of the race.  I managed to catch up to the front runners and crossed the finish line in third”

Dylan Long will continue his preparation and compete locally in the lead up to round one of the MX Nationals, which will host a support race for the countries best 85cc-150F racers on 4 & 5 April at Albury-Wodonga.
