Hunter Lawrence claims Mini-Lites title in crushing form at QLD Sunshine State MX Series

The finale of the Sunshine State Motocross Series in Queensland was held at Tivoli on 20 July 2013 and saw Motorex KTM Junior racer Hunter Lawrence claim the 12-13 years Mini Lites title on board his KTM85SX.

Lawrence scored 3-1-2 for the round of racing, claiming equal first on points, second overall for the day on count-back, but it was well and truly enough to claim the series win.

Lawrence finished the series on a high note in the 13-u16 years 2-stroke Lites class on board his KTM125SX, scoring 3-2-3 race results and his first podium on the bigger race bike at this series. Another highlight was posting the fastest lap time in race three, no mean feat against the much older and more experienced competitors in this class.

Post-event Lawrence said “I did what I needed on the 85 to get the overall and on the 125 I had an awesome day, everything just clicked.”

Motorex KTM Junior Racing’s Team Manager Glenn Macdonald was again extremely pleased with the performance “Hunter is really on the up-and-up at the moment. He has just scored himself a QLD Championship in the Mini-Lites, he has now claimed the SSMX series overall in this class and is now mixing it with the best in the Lites. It’s very impressive.”

Lawrence is now in the final stages of preparation for the FIM 85cc World Junior Motocross Championships to be held in Czech Republic on 11 August. You can follow Hunter’s results via our Facebook page as he takes on the world’s best.

Motorex KTM would like to thank their sponsors: KTM Australia, Motorex, Michelin, Kustom MX and Bell Helmets.
