Gillespie charges on to win penultimate round of VIC MX Championship despite illness

Motorex KTM racer Kristy Gillespie claimed round three, the penultimate round of the Victorian Motocross Championships at Warrnambool in south-west Victoria scoring 1-2-1 race results on 20 July2013. The result ensures Gillespie’s points lead in the title chase, the aim to secure her 8th consecutive title.

“The track was really wet after the rain we had’ said Gillespie ‘the rain held off on race day and there were blue skies but the track was super muddy.”

The seven-time consecutive Victorian champion used her extensive knowledge to negotiate the conditions and ill health at the event ‘I was really sick in the lead up - my body must hate me! I just kept charging on and doing what I had to do to keep on track for another title.”

Team Manager Glenn Macdonald was astounded, again, with Gillespie’s ability to race and bring home such impressive results despite being unwell “Kristy has yet again raced at a high level despite illness, in 2012 she rode a round with gastro, at the opening round of this series at Blue Rock she raced with a fractured hand. This girl is tough! I am immensely proud of her.”

The final round of the Championship will be held on 3 & 4 August 2013 where Gillespie will be aiming for the round books and her 8th consecutive championship.
