Round three of the Sunshine State Motocross Series in Queensland was held at Hervey Bay on 20 April 2013 and saw Motorex KTM Junior racers claim top honours in the 12-15 years Mini-Lites class.

Mitchell Evans and Hunter Lawrence proved again that they are two of the sport’s rising stars, Evans claiming the round win overall with 2-2-1 race results with Lawrence in second, just two points shy of his team mate.

“It was a good day,’ said Evans ‘I need to work on my starts but overall I am pretty happy. We will do some more testing now we have a gauge of where we are at and hopefully come out stronger at the next one.”

It was a close finish for the overall between team mates, Lawrence scoring 3-1-2 moto finishes.

“I had to come through the pack in some of the races on the 85 but I know I have the speed’ said Lawrence after the event ‘Coming away from this weekend, we will be look at our starts to make sure I am up the front early.”

Caleb Grothues (KTM) rounded out the podium with 1-4-4 race results.

Evans and Lawrence also contested the 13-15 years Junior Lites class on board their KTM125cc machines, putting in solid performances finishing 5th and 6th respectively.

Motorex KTM Junior Racing’s Team Manager Glenn Macdonald was extremely pleased with the performances of both riders “Each rider had their own challenges to overcome today, it wasn’t easy, but the results were well deserved. Both riders are in good form.”
