Gillespie claims VIC MX Championship opener in a gutsy effort

Showing true grit and determination, the gutsy Motorex KTM racer Kristy Gillespie claimed round one honours this weekend at Blue Rock scoring 1-3-1 race results while nursing a broken hand.

“The track is tricky to get a handle on’ said Gillespie ‘there are steep hill sections and with a broken hand I had to really be on my game and race smart to get points on the board.”

The seven-time consecutive Victorian champion put her competitors on notice that she is on track for title number eight claiming 1-3-1 and the round win.

Team Manager Glenn Macdonald was once again in awe of Gillespie’s gutsy outing “I would never underestimate Kristy’s ability to dig deep at a Championship level, but to race the Blue Rock track with a broken hand is one mean feat’ said Macdonald.

He went on to add “I am so happy for her that she was able to come away with the win to kick start her campaign for title number eight. She has absolutely done herself and sponsors proud with the result, but at the same time we would have fully supported her decision to sit the event out should she not feel able to compete.”

Gillespie will now take some time to recover and will compete at local events in the lead up to round two of the Championship.

GMR Motorex KTM would like to thank their sponsors: KTM Australia, Motorex, Michelin, Kustom MX and Bell Helmets. Future results and updates on the junior racing program can be found
