Finals frenzy for GMR Motorex KTM at Australian Junior Motocross Championships

After a long hectic week at the Australian Junior Motocross Championships at Coolum, QLD it was a finals frenzy for the GMR Motorex KTM Racing Team on the last day of racing.

Callum Norton headed into the final day of racing with a 2-2 under his belt and was determined to bring home a podium position in the 9-u12 years 85cc. Norton rode strong, hoping to secure a race win but it wasn’t meant to be, placing 2nd in the final moto for 2nd overall in the Championship.

In the 12-u14 85cc category GMR Motorex KTM fielded two of its chargers Mitch Evans and Reece Rayner. With the final moto remaining, Evans was placed 3rd in the points and Rayner 4th. The final race was a blinder for Evans, coming home with a well earned race win and secured a runner-up position for the title. Rayner meanwhile held strong for 4th in the final race and 4th overall in the Championship.

Evans’ form continued, this time in the 13-u15 years 100-150cc. Wayde Carter had an early lead but a mechanical failure saw him ruled out of the race. Evans meanwhile was charging through the field ultimately placing 7th with team mate Egan Mastin in 8th. Evans was the highest placed GMR racer in this class with 7th overall.

In the 13-u15 years 250F class, Carter and Mastin competed in the fifth final for the event. After a good start, Carter moved into 2nd position and soon took the lead, but it was Jesse Dobson who later took the lead for the race win relegating Carter to 2nd for the race. Mastin, again coming through the field rode home for 6th. The race result secured 2nd overall for the Championship for Carter.
