Australian Junior Motocross Championships Ė 5.10.12 Review

Finals racing continued at the Australian Junior Motocross Championships at Coolum on 5 October 2012, with the GMR Motorex KTM racers consolidating their early success.

Callum Norton was the first team member on the track today in the 9-u12 years 85cc. Norton rode a solid race, placing 2nd in his second of three finals. Norton consolidated his earlier finals performance and with 2-2 results is placed second overall heading into the last moto tomorrow.

In the 12-u14 85cc category GMR Motorex KTM fielded two of its chargers Mitch Evans and Reece Rayner. Evans placed in 3rd position for the second of three finals while Rayner scored 5th. Evans is currently holding 3rd position overall, Rayner 4th with one moto remaining.

Next, we saw the GMR Motorex KTM racers contesting the 13-u15 years 100-150cc. With hopes that the team would excel in this class with its spearhead duo of Carter and Mastin, crashes and injury has hampered their results. However it has been a great meet for young Mitch Evans so far with a 10th and an incredible 7th place for the youngster today in his first season on the bigger bike he is well placed to achieve his goal for a top ten finish in this hotly contested class.

In the 13-u15 years 250F class, Carter and Mastin competed in the fourth of five finals. After a solid start to the race, Mastin was taken down by another rider while at the pointy end of the field, luck at this meet simply not falling his way. Carter held strong for a 3rd place and Mastin recovering to score 6th place.

The final day of racing will no doubt action packed with five GMR Motorex KTM junior riders all vying for podiums and top five finishes. Good luck guys!
