Australian Junior Motocross Championships Ė 2.10.12 Review

GMR Motorex KTM racers continued their campaign at the Australian Junior Motocross Championships at Coolum in Queensland on 2 October 2012. After heavy rains the day earlier, the track was wet for the morning race program but began to dry out slowly throughout the day.

Callum Norton was the first team member on the track today in the 9-u12 years 85cc. Norton rode a solid race, placing 2nd in his round two heat draw.

In the 12-u14 85cc category Reece Rayner drew heat one in the second round of heats, placing 16th after a huge crash early in the race. Mitch Evans raced heat two, placing a solid 2nd.

Next, we saw Mitch Evans and Egan Mastin in round two heats, draw one for the 13-u15 years 100-150cc. Evans put in a blinder of a race coming home in 4th while Mastin crashed early making an impressive come back for 10th. In heat draw two, Wayde Cater and Reece Rayner placed 3rd and 10th respectively.

Norton contested the 11-u13 years 65cc, but after a crash did not complete the race.

In the 13-u15 years 250F class, Mastin and Carter competed in the first of five finals. Heats were not required for this class. Mastin ultimately finished in 4th despite carrying a niggling injury from an earlier crash in the 100-150cc class, while Carter placed 6th having suffered arm pump during the race.

Day three of racing will see the conclusion of heats racing for the team as well as round two of finals in the 13-u15 250F class. Good luck guys!
