Further podium success for Egan Mastin at Sunshine State Series, Tivoli

The Shell Advance Sunshine State Series continued on 26 May 2012 for round six of the series held at Tivoli QLD. Egan Mastin continued his podium success at the series, again collecting another two podium results on board his KTM150SX and 250SXF machines.

Mastin earlier claimed the win in the 4-stroke class at round five of the series, and runner up by just one point on board his KTM150SX.

“Tivoli was an off-day for me. I felt a bit uncomfortable and made some mistakes. I think we have figured out where we can improve so we will have it sorted before the NSW titles at Lakes in two weeks. I took the clean sweep at round one of the NSW Championship so my main goal right now is to focus on that.”

Team mate Reece Rayner was recently given medical clearance to race again after suffering a gash to his head sustained in a heavy fall while racing interstate, collecting 6th overall for the round of racing at Tivoli.
“I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time of the bike because of my injury, but race time was important because I have the QLD state titles in a couple of weeks.”

Team Manager Glenn Macdonald said on review “Egan’s results of 3-1-6 gave him second overall on the KTM250SXF and in the two-stroke class 3-1-3 gave him second also. Egan remains in podium contention in both classes for the series, despite crashing out of an earlier round. Egan is now in full swing preparing for the NSW State Championships to be held at Lake Macquarie on 9-11 June where he hopes to continue his domination after clean sweeping both classes at the opening round of the series.

Macdonald went on to add “The lack of bike time meant Reece rode a little stiffer than usual in the Mini Lites. He will now be focused on preparing for the QLD State Championships at Coolum on 8-11 June.“
