Outstanding performance by Gillespie at Victorian MX Championship

GMR Motorex KTM racer Kristy Gillespie once again stamped her authority on the Women’s Expert class at round two of the Victorian Senior Motocross Championships at Cobram on 21 & 22 April, claiming the round win on the technical, rutted circuit. Gillespie not only impressed in the Women’s racing, but also claimed her first career moto win in the B Grade Lites at State Championship level.

Kristy Gillespie is the reigning Victorian State Motocross Champion and in 2012 is vying for her 7th consecutive Championship.

“It was a great feeling to get the round win at Cobram’ said Gillespie. “The track was probably the best it has ever been. The ruts and the soil were awesome so it made for really good racing.

In race one, I was in the top group but my bike just stopped dead. I got it going pretty quickly and pushed hard to get back up to 3rd place. The next three motos went to plan and I took the win in each which gave me the overall.”

Gillespie now leads the Women’s Expert class by 17 points.

“Kristy did an outstanding job at Cobram’ said Team Manager Glenn Macdonald. “Not only did Kristy do an outstanding job in the Women’s Expert against the likes of Mackenzie Tricker, Tayla Jones and Maddy Brown, but she also claimed her first ever B Grade moto win at a State Championship level. Everyone in the team is really proud of her efforts and with a bit of luck is well on her way to securing her 7th straight women’s title.”
