GMR Motorex KTM racer Mitchell Evans to join Reece Rayner & Scott Mann in the 2011 Australian FIM World Motocross Championship Team

In a surprise turn of events, GMR Motorex KTM racer Mitchell Evans has just received an urgent call from Motorcycling Australia to attend the FIM World Junior Motocross Championships in Cingoli, Italy on 13 & 14 August in the 85cc class. Evans will be a member of the Australian contingent and will join fellow teammates Reece Rayner and Scott Mann who have been selected to represent Australia in the 65cc and 125cc classes respectively.

Mitchell Evans was recently named as a reserve rider in the 85cc class for the 2011 Australian team however the withdrawal of Jesse Dobson from the contingent has created an opening which allows Evans to attend.

Evan’s was shocked and surprised when he heard the news “I am so happy to be going to Italy. When I was selected as a reserve rider, I was a bit disappointed that I missed out but knew that I would have a good chance of making it in 2012. My family are working really hard now with MA and my race team to get everything organised. I can’t wait to get there!”

2011 will be Evans’ second year as a representative of the MA contingent, placing 6th at the 2010 Championship held in France in the 65cc class.

Evans will join his teammates Reece Rayner and Scott Mann at the event in Italy, with Callum Norton remaining on standby as reserve in the 65cc class.

GMR Motorex KTM Team Manager Glenn Macdonald said “I am extremely proud of Mitch’s selection. I watched Mitch put in an outstanding performance in the 65cc class last year in France and I am sure he will put in every effort again in Italy on the 85. Mitch has an incredible resume of results and proves he can perform under pressure at the highest level. With no less than 12 podium results already at State, National and International events, including two National class wins, I am certainly looking forward to supporting Mitch in Italy.”

Macdonald added “The team has three GMR Motorex KTM racers on the Australian team, with a fourth on standby, representing in all three classes. There is a lot of pressure in terms of preparation of our riders but all of our associated sponsors will be doing all we can to ensure we are well prepared for what will be a tough competition.”
GMR Motorex KTM racers have had great success at the FIM World Junior Motocross Championships having supported race team members Jay Wilson (1st 2009 85cc), Dylan Long (3rd 2009 85cc) and Mann (9th 2010 85cc) previously.

Everyone at GMR Motorex KTM, KTM Australia and our associated sponsors wish Mitch, Scott and Reece the very best of luck.
