GMR Motorex KTM racer Scott Mann announced to join 2011 Australian FIM World Motocross Championship Team

GMR Motorex KTM racer Scott Mann has received a surprise call from Motorcycling Australia with an urgent request to attend the FIM World Junior Motocross Championships in Cingoli, Italy on 13 & 14 August in the 125cc class. Mann will be a member of the Australian contingent and will join fellow teammate Reece Rayner who has been selected to represent Australia in the 65cc class.

Motorcycling Australia (MA) had to work through a re-selection of their 125cc pilots when it was discovered that the two original candidates did not fall within the FIM age requirements.

Mann, who missed out on the original team selection just a week ago, was surprised and excited when he received the call “I was so pumped when I received the call!’ said Mann ‘I was a little disappointed that I missed out originally, but I knew that if I kept up with my results that I would have had a good chance at making the team in 2012. I was definitely surprised when we received the call from MA and really proud to be representing Australia again.”

2011 will mark Mann’s third year as a representative for the MA contingent, and his second with the GMR Motorex KTM Racing Team. Mann will join his teammate Reece Rayner at the Championship, with Mitchell Evans and Callum Norton also remaining on standby as reserves in the 85cc and 65cc classes respectively.

Urgent preparations are now underway for Mann and the team is under no illusions how tough the premier junior class will be.

GMR Motorex KTM Team Manager Glenn Macdonald said “I am extremely proud of Scott’s selection. Scott was a dual Australian Champion in 2010, one of which was in the 125-150cc class, and he has got two years previous experience at the event. Scott performs extremely well under pressure and it was only sheer bad luck that we didn’t see Scott on the podium last year in France after taking a 3rd in moto one of the 85 class. The team and associated sponsors will be doing all we can to ensure Scott and Reece, are prepared and ready to race.”

GMR Motorex KTM racers have had great success at the FIM World Junior Motocross Championships having supported race team members Jay Wilson (1st 2009 85cc), Dylan Long (3rd 2009 85cc) and Mann (9th 2010 85cc) previously.
Everyone at GMR Motorex KTM, KTM Australia and our associated sponsors wish Scott and Reece the very best of luck.
