GMR Motorex KTM racers continue solid form and remain in series contention at Sunshine State Series

07-06-11

Reece Rayner and Mitchell Evans took to the Kingaroy track in Queensland for round five of the Sunshine State Series on 4 June 2011, taking away another three podium results. Rayner collected the round win in the 9-u12 years 85cc-150F Mini Lites and second in the 65cc class, while Evans scored third overall in the 12-u16 years 85cc-150F Mini Lites.

Reece Rayner retains his series lead in the 9-u12 years 65cc class by just two points and has narrowed the points margin in the 9-u12 years Mini Lites class, to just 19 points off the lead after his round win at Kingaroy

“I got three second places on the 65cc which gave me 2nd overall for the day’ said Rayner. ‘I had a couple of mistakes which cost me, but I still hold onto the series lead. I had a great day on the 85, picking up the win for the day. It has moved me a lot closer to the series lead which is awesome.”

12 year old Mitchell Evans continues to collect consistent results in the 12-u16 years Mini Lites and maintains second overall in the series standings after collecting a third place podium at Kingaroy

“I had bit of an up and down day at Kingaroy’ said Mitch ‘I got a holeshot in race one but a small mistake meant Wilson Todd got by me and I finished second. In the next two I had a bit of bike trouble and I got 4th and 6th which gave me 3rd overall for the day.”

Scott Mann sustained a shoulder injury at round two of the series and is focusing on his recovery and preparations for the QLD Motocross Championship on 10-13 June.

“Reece Rayner and Mitchell Evans are continuing to perform well’ said Team Manager Glenn Macdonald. ‘Reece has really closed in the gap on the series lead in the 9-u12 years Mini Lites, but holds the lead on the 65cc by only a slim 2 points. I am sure that these two classes will be decided at the finale.’

“Mitchell is also continuing to consistently stand on the podium throughout this series and sits in second overall. His results have been excellent considering that this is his first season on the KTM85SX big-wheel and in the broad 12-u16 years age group. We are certainly looking forward to seeing him contest the QLD titles at Coolum in the 12-13 years class.”
