Kristy Gillespie takes a clean sweep at Victorian Womenís Motocross Championship opener

The Victorian Senior Motocross Championships got underway on 16 & 17 April 2011, with Kristy Gillespie aiming to secure her sixth consecutive number one plate in the Women’s class.

The opening round, one of four for the series honors, kicked off at the hilly Ballarat circuit which was rutted and wet circuit early in the day which became choppy, dry and slick toward the end of the day’s racing.

“I am really happy with the result today’ said Gillespie “ I won all three of my motos so it was the perfect way to start the Championship.”

“I had to come through the pack in races one and two after less than perfect starts to take the wins, but in race three I nailed it and lead from start to finish.”

“The track was really good, there were lots of ruts to work with and I really enjoyed it.”

Team Manager Glenn Macdonald said of the result “The round one win at Ballarat was the perfect start for Kristy’s 2011 title chase. She nailed the start in race three and dominated the field and this is the form we hope to carry into the remainder of this series and the upcoming Women’s Nationals.”
