GMR Motorex KTM racer Dylan Long claims the Michelin Development Series win at Super X

Dylan Long has just claimed the Super X, Michelin Development Series win at the final round of racing held at Brisbane on 4 December.

Long claimed second in the final in trying conditions, after practice, qualifying and heats were cancelled. The junior riders headed into the final with only three sight laps prior to the gates dropping

“I really wanted to win tonight at the final round to make it a clean sweep for the series, but when a lapper moved into the race line I had to jump on the brakes to avoid crashing into them’ said Long. ‘ Jacob Wright took the opportunity and made the pass on me because I had lost momentum, but the series win is what I wanted most. I am so pumped to have won the Michelin Development Series, it really is a good feeling and a relief to bring it home.”

“Thank you to everyone who has helped to make this happen, including all of the sponsors of GMR Motorex KTM, my family and my personal sponsors Choice Suspension and Backflips.”

Team Manager Glenn Macdonald said “It was a battle of survival out on the track with the gnarly conditions they faced. Dylan played it smart given the carnage out on the track and was lucky not to be taken down by the lapped rider who moved into the race line. Second on the night was more than enough to seal the deal on the series win so we couldn’t be much happier.”

“This was Dylan’s final race with GMR Motorex KTM Racing Team as a junior as he now steps up into the senior ranks with a focus on the u19’s national series. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dylan, his dad Mark and mum Tania as well as the rest of Dylan’s family for their efforts over the past two years with the GMR family.

In the past two years with KTM we have seen Dylan really develop as a racer, collecting four state championships, third at the junior world’s and two Supercross titles. We are sure that there will be more success coming his way in the future and look forward to supporting him in his goals any way we can.”
