GMR Motorex KTM racer Dylan Long wins opening round of Super x 2010

Dylan Long has come out strong at the opening round of the 2010 Super X series at Newcastle on 16 October. Long drew equal on points for the Super X Series in 2009, racing with injury throughout that series and was keen to make amends in 2010 aiming for the series win.

“It was awesome to finish the final with a win at Newcastle. My day didn’t start that well, there were a few hiccups along the way like getting caught up in the first turn pile up in the heats, but we pushed through for a sweet result in the end’ said Long.

“I got a pretty good start in the final and sat behind Jacob Wright for a couple of laps and made the move into the lead at the end of a rhythm section with a few laps to go to take the win.’

“I am looking forward to Canberra next week and hopefully we get another good result.”

Team Manager Glenn Macdonald said “Dylan’s practice session progressed well, posting solid lap times. The heats process was a little hectic with the two races suddenly merged and on top of that, Dylan crashed in a first turn pile up. Dylan did well however to regain focus and charge through the pack to a top ten finish which secured his place in the final.’

“In the final, Dylan was at the pointy end early, quickly settling into second position behind Jacob Wright. Dylan chipped away at the lead and planned his move and with a few laps to go, Dylan made the pass into the lead to take the win.’

“I am extremely proud of how Dylan rode. His performance in the final was close to flawless and was the only junior rider to lap the circuit in the 42 second barrier. This result is the perfect start to the Michelin Development Series and it picks up where he left of in the 09 Super X series.’

“The series now moves to Canberra for round two and we are hoping to maintain his momentum for another solid result.”
