Kristy Gillespie wins penultimate round of Victorian Motocross Titles

Kristy Gillespie was back to her winning form at round three of the Victorian Senior Motocross Titles held at Barrabool on 10 & 11 July 2010, taking three moto wins on the loamy, rutted circuit.

Gillespie entered the round leading the Championship after taking a clean sweep at round one and placing second to Steph Cutler at round two. Gillespie was keen to make amends on her round two result, doing so in fine form taking all three moto wins convincingly.

“I was really keen to make amends at this round, having placed second at the last one, said Gillespie. “I worked hard between rounds two and three on my mid-corner speed and ruts, and I think competing at the MX Nationals in the Pro Lites at Albury also helped with my aggression.

“I won the three motos for the win on the day, and maintained my Championship lead heading into the final round at Broadford coming up in mid August.”

Team Manager Glenn Macdonald said “This is a great result for Kristy and it has really helped create a good points buffer heading into the final round.

“I think competing at the MX Nationals at Albury really helped hone her technique and speed and we can see that in her race results at Barrabool, winning each moto by in excess of 25 seconds.

“Kristy races well at Broadford and we are hopeful of securing her fifth State title before re-focusing on her Nationals at Albury.”
