Kristy Gillespie takes opening round win at Victorian Motocross Titles
In a dominating performance, GMR Motorex KTM racer Kristy Gillespie took the opening round win at the Victorian Senior Motocross Championships at Shepparton on 22 May 2010.
The Shepparton circuit is a new venue for Goulburn Valley Motorcycle Club and first major race meeting at the circuit which boasted loamy, mulched soil with hard pack base that became extremely rough and technical.
Gillespie took three wins from three starts and said of her performance, “I am really pleased with my results at round one of the titles and my aim is to just keep consistent for the next few rounds of series and bring home another number one plate,” said Gillespie.
“Kristy rode with a smart head at Shepparton during Saturday’s racing,” said Team Manager Glenn Macdonald. “The track became extremely rough toward the end of the day and she rode safe to bring home the win.
This is a great start to Kristy’s campaign to win her fifth consecutive state title.
Kristy also contested the B grade Lites (Expert) on Sunday’s program and rode exceptionally well. The class was stacked, with two heats required due to rider numbers. Kristy pulled some excellent starts from a full gate of riders and defiantly held her own against the guys.”
