More solid results for GMR racers at Sunshine State MX Series

GMR Motorex KTM racers Reece Rayner, Scott Mann and Jay Wilson competed in the Shell Advance Sunshine State Motocross Series at Hervey Bay on 20-21 March 2010 with all three riders finishing on the podium in four classes.

“I rode really consistent in the 65cc class for a 2-2-2 result which gave me second overall, and then I rode a 4-5-3 for fourth overall in the 85cc class,” said Rayner. “I probably could have got a higher result in the 85cc class, but I stalled the bike in moto one going into a corner, which had an impact on my result.

“My focus is just to keep upright and uninjured which is the directive of my folks, because we have the QLD State Motocross Championship coming up in about four weeks, which is really important to us because I won it last year on the 65.”

“I had a great round taking the win in the 150cc class with a 3-1-1  result after borrowing my team mate Jay Wilson’s 150, after I had bike trouble in moto one,” said Mann.  “Then in the 85cc class I got a 6-1-1 for 2nd just one point shy of for first.   I would have liked to go away with a win, but unfortunately I had some mechanical gremlins throughout the day.  Moving forward I am focused on the 13-14 years 85cc class of the QLD State Motocross Championship, which my team mate Jay Wilson won last year, and I want to keep it in the KTM family.

“I rode solid with a 2-2-2 result in the Junior Lights which gave me second for the round to Jacob Wright,” said Wilson.  “I knew coming into the event I would have to be on top of my game early, knowing Jacob Wright can go around Hervey Bay quickly, but at least I got some positive results, and moving forward I’m trying to pick up on my lap times in preparation for the QLD MX Champs.”
