GMR Motorex KTM racers outstanding at World Junior Qualifying

GMR Motorex KTM racers Jay Wilson and Dylan Long have been flying the flag high for the Australian World Junior Motocross Team, putting in outstanding performances in practice and qualifying sessions today in the 85cc – 150F class.

The track at Taupo, New Zealand saw plenty of rain overnight and during the day’s riding sessions but it did not deter the tough KTM racers, with Jay Wilson qualifying in 2nd place behind Frenchman Dylan Ferrandis, with Lars van Berkel of the Netherlands in 3rd and Dylan Long 4th fastest.

Fellow Australian teammates Luke Clout qualified 5th, with Hayden Melross also claiming a top 10 qualifying position in 9th.

Jay Wilson was stoked with his progress today and his qualifying result “The track is awesome and my bike is running perfect over here. The only hassle is the weather because it’s so cold and wet but I am handling it pretty good and am riding really well here. I just plan to get back to the motel and keep warm, have an early night and get ready to race tomorrow afternoon.”

Wilson’s teammate Dylan Long was also extremely pleased with his performance “My bike is running really well here. We made a couple of changes just before qualifying which really helped and I was able to get a good lap time in before I jarred my back later in the session. I still rode on and did plenty of laps, so I am sure I can keep it fast and consistent for the 20 minute motos. I will get a massage tonight and rest for tomorrow so I will be ready to go!”

The GMR Motorex KTM Racing Team also extends their congratulations to Tye Simmonds, who qualified fastest in the 125 cc – 250F class and all of their fellow Team Australia competitors.

Stay tuned to for results from the Australian World Junior Motocross Championships.
