Kristy Gillespie wins round two of Victorian Womenís Motocross Championships

GMR Motorex KTM racer Kristy Gillespie was a stand out at round two of the Victorian Senior Motocross Championship held at Albury-Wodonga on 5 July.

Gillespie contested three 10 minute motos for the day on a track that challenged the riders with huge, dry ruts. On board her KTM 250SX-F, Gillespie took the round win and solidified her Championship lead by a 36 point margin over second placed rider Tamika Edwards.

"I am really happy with my performance today at Albury," said Gillespie. "I always enjoy racing here at my home track where lots of my family, and friends are there to cheer me on.

"I won the first race by quite a big margin, although I thought I rode a little loose. I knew what I needed to work on, and race two was much better. I took the win this time by an even greater margin, so I was stoked.
"Race three was another good one for me, and the rougher the track got the better I rode. I won race three by a huge margin, giving me more confidence to race on rougher, and more technical tracks coming up for me.
"I am feeling really good heading into the MX Nationals for the Women’s Championship at Lakes and Coolum. I won the title last year at Lakes, so it has lots of good memories for me, and I just love the surface and layout at Coolum, so I can’t wait."

Team Manager Glenn Macdonald was extremely impressed by Kristy’s performance at the Vic Championships “ I congratulate Kristy on being undefeated so far this season in the Championship.

"Kristy is doing an exceptional job this year, and is really determined to focus on her development as a racer, and hopefully for her that in turn means she will be up there in maintaining her number one plate.

"As a team, we have been working together to ensure that Kristy gets exposure against tough competition, including a wildcard entry at the MX Nationals earlier this season, against the guys. All of this is to ensure we are ready for the battle, and any challenge we face at either our state or national titles."
