Sam Duncanson injured in practice crash

GMR Motorex KTM racer Sam Duncanson has suffered a serious practice crash while training in Queensland last weekend which will see him sidelined for a few months.

Team Manager Glenn Macdonald has spoken at lengths with Sam’s father Bruce and whilst he has suffered multiple fractures, it is understood that he will make a full recovery.

Glenn advises that “Sam has suffered a number of injuries when he jumped a single-triple section. The crash sent him over the bike in a high-side and he landed heavily on his upper right side. He has a number of fractures including a broken collar-bone, shoulder blade and numerous ribs and also took quite a knock to the head. The doctors have also identified fractures to a few ‘spurs’ near his vertebrae which we are told will heal in time.

In Sam’s professional attitude to riding, he was wearing all of his protective gear which has no doubt reduced what could have been a more significant impact.’

Glenn added, ‘Sam is in excellent care up in Brisbane and all we can do at this stage is allow the doctor’s to do their job and work through his recovery plan. Just a few hours ago, Sam was transferred from Intensive Care Unit to the Trauma Unit which is a positive step forward.

I ask that people respect the family’s privacy and I will update everyone as information comes to hand, direct from the family.”

Everyone associated with GMR Motorex KTM wishes Sam and his family all of the best in his recovery.
