GMR Motorex KTM juniors on the podium at club events

Jason Reed and Sam Duncanson have secured podium positions at local club days near their home townships with Reed winning the Lake Macquarie Club event in the 15 years Junior Lites class and Duncanson placing second in the 13-14 years Junior Lites class at a Toowoomba Club Day.

Jason Reed attended the Lakes Club event in preparation for the final round of the Rookies Series on 22 June, the event saw him take home top honours over James Flannagan in second and Morgan Gilkes in third.

Reed comments, “The track at Lakes was rough and the surface was rockier than usual due to the large amount of rain in the area during the week leading up to the event.

“In race one, I got off to a slower than usual start and had to work my way through the field for a second place finish.  I then took two hole shots on the KTM 250 SX-F in the remaining races and rode away for the win.

“Lakes will host the Rookies Series in a couple of weeks time, so this was a great opportunity for some bike time in race conditions and fine tuning of my preparation and set-up.”

In Queensland, Sam Duncanson continued to improve on his return from a knee injury which saw him off the bike for a number of months.

Duncanson comments, “The track at Toowoomba was wet during practise, but overall the track was good with lots of deep ruts.  In my first moto, I started the day well with a comfortable ride and led from start to finish.   Then in the next moto I was second around the first turn and applied heaps of pressure for the lead throughout the race, but I was not able to take it so I settled for second.

“In my final race I had some good dices but there was heaps of sun glare in the late afternoon which I struggled with when trying to see ahead of me.    I made a couple of errors in rut choice because of this and again had to settle second.

“All up my 1-2-2 results secured me second overall for the day to HRA rider Jacob Wright.”

Jesse Dobson also competed at a Coolum club event and took the win in the 9-u 12 years 85cc class in Sunday's racing.
